Golden Goal The Hublot Classic Fusion Chrono Aero Pelé pays tribute to the greatest soccer player who has ever lived

Who is the best player in the history of baseball? Or football? Who is the greatest Olympian ever? Or tennis player? Raise these or similar questions with a likeminded sports head and you can kiss goodbye to the next hour of your life and any chance of meeting in agreement at the end. That’s not the case with soccer. Pelé is the greatest player who ever lived. Nothing more. Nothing less. Case closed.

How great was Pelé? He won three World Cups won in dominating fashion and scored 1,281 career goals. He was named the player of the 20th Century. During his playing career, the coach of the Brazilian national team was asked to name the best goalkeeper in the country. He simply replied, “Pelé.” (Thing you should already know: Pelé didn’t play goalkeeper.)

With the FIFA World Cup headed to Brazil this year, Hublot celebrates with the Classic Fusion Chrono Aero Pelé. This limited edition of 500 pieces features a polished ceramic case, crown and bezel; sapphire crystal; a black calfskin strap modeled after football stitching; a date disc featuring a yellow lacquered number 10, in honor of Pelé’s jersey; and Pelé’s signature on the case back. If you’re headed to Rio de Janeiro to see the World Cup, stop by Hublot’s new boutique in the city’s Fashion Mall.
