The Good Life Getaway 2 Give helps pro athletes vacation for a cause

As charities try to find more creative ways to fundraise, the G2G Collection may have discovered the most relaxing method. G2G, or Getaway 2 Give is the first philanthropic-based luxury destination club that allows its members to save money on their travels while donating a portion of their vacation costs to their charity of choice.

Here’s how it works. Travelers join G2G via a membership program. A fee of $7,500 goes toward membership. Another $7,500 contribution goes to the Giving Plan Foundation, Inc. and is sent directly to your charity of choice. Once you are a member, there are no more annual fees to pay.

From there, G2G members enjoy discounts at an average of 30-60% off the market rates to stay at over 30 luxury destinations including, various resort destinations in the US, Mexico, South America and as far away as South Africa. An additional 5% of your nightly fee is also donated to your favorite charity.

G2G already has over 25 professional athletes among its members, including All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. “I truly am passionate about my philanthropic work,” Fitzgerald says. “To be able to couple the two, vacations and charity together, I think it’s an ingenious idea.”

In addition to providing travel coaches to help members get the most out of their vacations, including scheduling events, excursions and dinner reservations, G2G has been able to provide one additional amenity that is paramount to the athletes and executives they serve—privacy.

G2G’s properties, especially here in the United States (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, San Francisco) are in private buildings, allowing athletes to spend their time in a major city in a luxury apartment without autograph seekers stalking hotel lobbies.

The club has just eclipsed one million dollars in charitable donations and has set a goal to reach a billion dollars in philanthropic giving. “We started G2G because a lot of us are searching for meaning,” says Rob Vaka, founder of the club. “You want to pursue something more important in your life and we think G2G helps provide that opportunity.
